THE FAUST now uses a species × rarity model. Species defines folklore identity and danger. Rarity defines base output, visual tier, trait magnitude, and lifetime scarcity.
Species × rarity matrix
Every spirit species can exist across tiers from Basic to Legendary. A Tuyul, Wisp, or Gilded Boar keeps its species identity across rarity versions; the tier changes its base strength, visual prestige, trait magnitude, and available supply.
- Species defines folklore identity, danger traits, and behavior.
- Tier defines base yield, scarcity, and visual prestige.
- Roll defines individual stat variance and is locked to that pet.
- Level and stars define player progression.
Yield formula
Spirit output is deterministic:
yield = base × species_mult × roll(0.8–1.2) × (1 + 0.02 × (Lv − 1)) × (1 + 0.2 × stars) × incense × flow_buffs
| Tier | Base |
|---|---|
| Basic | 10 |
| Common | 40 |
| Uncommon | 120 |
| Rare | 320 |
| Super Rare | 960 |
| SSR | 2,400 |
| Legendary | 2,700 |
Danger is species-based, not rarity-based. A higher rarity spirit is stronger, but not automatically more dangerous unless the species itself carries danger.
Levels, stars, and fusion
- Pet level cap: Lv66. Keeper level cap: Lv33.
- EXP: 125 per level, 100 EXP/hour at night, 25 EXP/hour during day, +200 first-night bonus.
- Lv1–13 is free Pip progression. Lv14+ costs 150 Pip per level.
- Stars cap at ★3. Each star adds +20% yield.
- Fusion requires same species, same tier, same star, and Lv66. The primary gains +1 star and resets to Lv1; the duplicate returns intact to the shelf.
Premium pool and supply caps
Premium pull cost is 5 Ticket. Species rolls uniformly inside the selected tier pool. Premium pet supply is finite.
| Tier | Rate | Lifetime pool |
|---|---|---|
| Common | 50% | 3,000 |
| Uncommon | 25% | 1,666 |
| Rare | 15% | 1,100 |
| Super Rare | 7.5% | 600 |
| SSR | 2.3% | 200 |
| Relic Fragment | 0.05% | forge material |
| Legendary Skin | 0.15% | cosmetic |
Once a premium tier is exhausted, that tier becomes marketplace-only. The exact user-facing handling of closed-tier rolls will be finalized before public sale.
Basic Altar
The Basic Altar is the non-premium entry path. It costs 500 Pip and rolls starter species only: Basic at 80%, Basic+ at 20%. It gives free players growth without polluting capped premium pools.
Ascension
Ascension is bound-only. It burns required pages/materials to move the same species to the next tier, preserving provenance and resetting the pet to Lv1.
- C → UC: 3×, Lv13+
- UC → R: 3×, Lv13+
- R → SR: 2×, ★1 + Lv33
- SR → SSR: 2×, ★3 + Lv66
- Relic 5 → Legendary
Simulator verification
- Implemented in faust-sim under src/sim/v4, spec_version D.2.
- 37/37 tests passed; npm run build passed.
- v2 campaign output preserved: md5 2b76acc6667938df957b2f465013be5b.
- Pool matrix: 16 species × 7 tiers = 112 species-tier combinations.
- Maximum on-chain partition: 6,666.
Oil-tax output now depends heavily on roster depth. High fire tiers expect deeper crews: a Fire Tier 6 solo roster can face 80% oil tax, while a seven-spirit crew drops it near 11.4%.
